Alexander McQueen was one of the most celebrated fashion designers of his generation, known for his highly original designs that married artistry with exceptional technical ability.
The house's early collections developed its reputation for controversy and shock tactics with lavish and imaginative runway shows and unconventional, radically modern designs, he incorporated hair, wood, shells, coral, feathers, horns, and even taxidermy into his pieces.
Sarah Burton, who was McQueen's deputy for 14 years, became the creative director for the Alexander McQueen label after McQueen's tragic death in 2010.
